Nietzsche's two landmark books are about the conflict between the moral and aesthetic approaches to life, the impact of Christianity on human values, among others.

Contrast with G.K. Chesterton, a contemporary of C.S. Lewis (of 'The Lion, The Witch, & The Wardrobe'), who viewed Christianity as essential to the uplifting of society.

The opening scene to 'The Matrix' has Keanu Reeve's character reading a certain book. What is that book? What is it all about? The book is 'Will to Power', about nihilism, art, morality, religion, and the theory of knowledge, among others. Themes from the book are spread throughout the movie--the Superman, who can will his own law and create his own nature, etc. Many of his ideas were considered dangerous to the stability of law and society.
